Lunch in schools and at day care centers

Who is eligible?

  • Pupils under 25 years, who are attending general or vocational school, except when they receive an apprenticeship pay
  • Children in daycare or preschool

Which support is offered?

If a communal lunch is provided at the day care center or school it usually costs more than a meal at home. Therefore an allowance is paid in addition to an own contribution of 1 € by the applicant. In case the lunch expenses is a monthly lump sum the own contribution of the applicant amounts to 20 € per month.

Any other food provided at the day care center or school like breakfast or snacks are not eligible.

How does it work?

For every child a separate application is needed. The allowance can only be paid if the day care center or school provides communal lunch and the child or pupil is taking part in it.

The allowance is paid directly to the school, day care center or caterer.

Please note: The applicant’s own contribution has to be paid to the facility on his/her own responsibility.
